Finance Risk Actuary

Our Non-Life Client has an excellent opportunity for a motivated, energetic and innovative actuary to join their Risk Function. You will report to the Head of Risk. You will be a "doer", dedicated to meeting your deadlines with quality.

The role

 

  • Support the delivery, implementation of the Risk Management Framework

  • Support the annual review of the solvency, liquidity, investment and insurance risk appetites

  • Provide oversight and support to ensure that the financial and insurance risks are kept within risk appetite

  • Help embed robust governance frameworks for decision making. 

  • Support senior management in promoting a positive risk management culture.

  • Drive and develop the effectiveness of risk management through risk review, challenge, and independent opinion of key business decisions

  • Provide pro-active oversight and challenge of the business’s capital and liquidity management processes. 

  • Provide pro-active oversight and challenge of the business’s pricing, reinsurance, underwriting and reserving processes

  • Support the delivery of the ORSA.

  • Support the annual review of the Recovery Plan

  • Undertake thematic reviews as required

  • Provide high quality risk reporting

  • Support regulatory risk reporting

  • Review, challenge and initiate improvements to the management and optimisation of risk.

  • Act as a consultant, challenger and coach to the business.  

  • Review and challenge of all aspects of the financial and insurance risk profile. 

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Experience and knowledge of financial risk and insurance risk        

  • Understanding of the broad spectrum of risks facing complex general insurance businesses including operational, capital management, ALM, investments, claims reserving, underwriting, pricing and reinsurance.

  • Agility to flex style and apply skills in a wide range of situations. 

  • Demonstrable ability to rapidly absorb new information and identify key issues.

  • A self-starter with the ability to innovate is proactive and works in a collaborative environment.

  • Excellent communication both written and oral together with questioning skills.
