Our Client is a Direct Insurance company with an insurance portfolio that spans across Europe and Asia, and is among the largest non-life balance sheets in Ireland.

Your role is to challenge our Clients’ various regional actuaries, and where appropriate, our client’s Head of Actuarial Function, in a competent professional manner? 

This is a high-profile opportunity for a confident nearly/newly qualified NL actuary.

Reporting to the Head of Reserving 2nd Opinion, your role will involve:

• Ensuring appropriate methods and models are used in the calculation of technical provisions;

• Assessing the quality of data available for reserving purposes and the controls performed by the 1st opinion;

• Contributing to the performance from time to time of deep-dive analyses on specific LOBs;

• Contributing to regular independent second opinions on the insurance & reinsurance reserves to management in line with Group standards;

• Defining the local second opinion on reserves framework to contribute to the review of the reserving policy;

• Assisting in coordinating activities on the two annual assessments to be performed;

• Ensuring that actuarial policies, processes and procedures locally meet standard requirements; and

• Providing actuarial assistance on internal projects and initiatives as required

The Candidate

• Our Client is looking for a strong candidate to hit the ground running; capable, confident and professional, with strong reserving experience, and excellent inter-personal skills;

• Highly numerate and analytical;

• Excellent organizational skills;

• Good written and verbal communication skills;

• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills – preferably with experience of VBA;

• Ability to work independently using own initiative and be a good team player;

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within the team to tight deadlines; and

• Ability to work effectively across various disciplines.

 

You will report directly to the Head of Reserving 2nd Opinion.
